Sodium Carbonate Alkali is for increasing the pH of your swimming pool water if it is below 7.2.
Acid/alkaline conditions are measured on the pH scale which ranges from 0 to 14, if your pH is too low your water can become corrosive and other chemicals may not work effectively.
Your pool water should be between 7.2 and 7.6 (refer to manufacturer's guidelines) with total alkalinity of 80/120mg/litre (pmm). This range will also allow most effective use of other swimming pool chemicals.
